ship-cut-outThe Bembos of Venice were notorious among the merchant families of the 15th century. Through skill, guile, and marriage they entered the highest echelons of Mediterranean society. Rare manuscript and print materials from the James Ford Bell Library and the Malta Study Center of the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library at St. John’s University illustrate the varied and fascinating activities of this Venetian family.
